JAKARTA - During the NIO DAY 2022 event, the automaker announced that it was officially launching its third-generation battery replacement station, which increased battery replacement efficiency.

The new battery exchange station is claimed to be able to store up to 21 battery packs, up nearly half, from previously only storing 13 battery packs and 5 in first-generation facilities.

NIO said that they increased their daily service capacity at this third-generation station to 408, an increase of 30 percent compared to the second generation.

The company also claims that through this new charging station, vehicles can replace batteries in just 2 minutes and 30 seconds, 20 percent faster than the previous generation.

More specifically, the third-generation NIO battery exchange station also complements two LiDARs and two Nvidia Orin chips, with a total computing power of 508 TOPS.

According to the company, the LiDAR and Nvidia Orin chips allow for a more accurate collaboration between vehicles and stations to support the intelligent battery exchange function including summons and automatic parking.

The third-generation battery exchange station uses a two-way HPC high-power liquid power module developed by NIO, with a maximum efficiency of 98 percent and 62.5 kW charging/emption power.

NIO stated that the NIO third-generation battery exchange station will be available in March 2023.
