JAKARTA - The Ministry of Communication and Information (Kominfo) predicts that the traffic of the telecommunication network has increased quite high, reaching 3-17 percent of normal conditions.

"This year there has been a fairly high increase in traffic, yes, compared to the previous year, there has been a difference since the COVID-19 pandemic yesterday where now people's movements are more dynamic," said Ismail, Plt. Director General of Post and Informatics Organizers of the Ministry of Communication and Informatics at a press conference held online, Monday, December 26.

Ismail said this year's traffic comparison with last year increased by 19 percent. "So 4-19 percent compared to last year," he added.

To keep the telecommunications network stable during high traffic, the Ministry of Communication and Information together collaborates with several telecommunications service providers to work together to prepare additional facilities.

"For last Christmas, Alhamdulillah, there was no significant disruption due to the spike in traffic. Yesterday's telecommunications needs could be implemented properly and are expected to continue until the new year 2023," said Ismail.

Ismail added, as an effort to anticipate a spike in traffic in the framework of Christmas and New Year this time, there needs to be an increase in infrastructure capacity and internet network capacity.

The second effort is to optimize the quality and capacity of the network at crowded points, such as shopping centers, tourism centers, worship centers, and presidential areas.

"The third one adds new BTS and provides BTS mobile or combat BTS in crowded centers such as rest areas of toll roads, malls, and other public spaces," he explained.

Ismail admitted that the Ministry of Communication and Information has also carried out network tests and test tests on the homecoming route to ensure telecommunications services are maintained. As well as preparing officers and posts to oversee the increase in traffic 24/7 hours.

Finally, the Ministry of Communication and Informatics also ensures that every network call center operates well during Nataru. "Kominfo will continue to monitor service quality so that it runs well," he said.
