JAKARTA - Twitter CEO Musk launched a poll on social media platforms on Sunday, December 18 asking if he should step down as head of the company. He also added that he would comply with poll results.

The poll is scheduled to close around 11.20 GMT on Monday, December 19 although the billionaire did not provide details on when he would step down if poll results said he should step down.

Following the comments of one Twitter user about a possible CEO change, Musk said there was "No successor".

Musk told Delaware's court last month he would reduce his time on Twitter and eventually find a new leader to run the company.

The poll comes after a Twitter policy update on Sunday, which bans accounts created solely for the purpose of promoting other social media companies and content containing links or usernames for rival platforms.

Minutes before the poll, Musk apologized and tweeted, "In the future, there will be a vote on major policy changes."

Hours later, Twitter started a poll asking users if the platform should have policies that prevent accounts advertising other social media platforms on Twitter.

As of Monday, December 19 at 12.00 WIB, there were hundreds of thousands who took part in the poll and 56 percent stated Yes, which means Musk had to step down and 44 percent stated No, which means he must stay afloat.
