YOGYAKARTA - Community Notes is a new feature presented by Twitter. This social media platform with the bird logo launched the Community Notes feature to prevent its users from exposure to hoaxes or misinformation.

@CommunityNotes, Twitter's Community official account, revealed that with this feature users can view and respond to notes. This step is taken to help ensure that the notes provided are useful for users from various points of view.

Community Notes is actually not a completely new feature. This feature is a rebranding of the existing feature, namely Birdwatch, which was released in 2021. The name change was made after Twitter was acquired by Elon Musk.

Community Notes has almost the same functions and ways as Birdwatch. This feature is a large-scale fact-checking system with the crowdsource method. With this method, anyone in the Community Notes program can participate in correcting misleading or hoaxes.

So how does it work? Twitter users who are members of the Community Notes are called contributors/moderators. This contributor can add notes (notes) on twitter which according to him are indicated as hoaxes or misinformation. The addition of these notes will take references as well as embed links from the official publisher or organization website.

Other Twitter users can tweet along with the additional note. Users can also give a response, to assess whether the notes provided help or not.

The role of the Community Notes feature can be applied to various topics that are considered to be indicated as hoaxes or misinformation. For example, there is a tweet about the COVID-19 pandemic. Then there are users who add notes related to the tweet.

Under the notes a question will arise This note helpful?: Does this note help? There is a choice of answer, namely Yes, Maybe, and No. If the user chooses Yes then the system will issue further questions regarding which part is considered helpful.

If the user responds No then further questions will arise regarding what makes the user disagree with the note. Then if you choose the answer Maybe then there will be further questions about which parts the user thinks are useful and useless. The answer is then sent by clicking Submit and Agreement.

However, if the twitter maker does not accept the added note, then the creator can submit an additional review. Twitter stated that it would not write, respond, or moderate notes made by the contributor. So a pure note based on the assessment of the contributor.
