JAKARTA - Google on Wednesday, December 7 announced two new performance arrangements in its Chrome browser, namely the "Memories Savings and Energy Savings" feature.

The modern browser today is called a lot of memory, and although it doesn't matter if you have 32GB of RAM, Chrome that uses some of your memory gigabytes can quickly slow down your machine if you use an engine with lower specifications.

Memory Saver Mode promises to reduce Chrome memory usage by 30% by switching inactive tabs to sleep mode. The tab will only be re-loaded when you need it again.

Meanwhile, Energy Saving Mode, limiting background activity and visual effects for sites with animations and videos as your laptop battery level drops below 20%.

Reported TechCrunch these features are now rolling out with the release of Chrome 108 and will be available globally for Windows, macOS, and ChromeOS in the coming weeks. You can exclude each site from sleeping or, of course, completely turning off this feature.

Google's announcement comes a day after Microsoft announced that its Browser Edge puts its 1.38 billion tabs to sleep in September alone. According to Microsoft, putting the tab on Edge usually saves 83% of the memory it usually occupies.

Microsoft launched its version of these features, which can automatically turn off the tab after five minutes of inactivity (and can lower it for 30 seconds inactive), a few years ago and then again fix it with Edge 100 release earlier this year.

Edge is also equipped with game mode, which can automatically reduce CPU usage when detecting that you are playing games on your PC.
