JAKARTA - A total of 3.2 billion or 41 percent of the world's population is Gen Z, which is a population under the age of 25. Based on data from the Ministry of Home Affairs, Indonesia itself has 68 million inhabitants of Gen Z.

Connection and Entertainment

Gen Z sees Facebook and Instagram as a platform to watch entertaining content while connecting via comment conversations and Direct Messages (DM).

Of the total 2,000 Gen Z surveyed, 73 percent of them liked video content from Reels (Meta's short video). The rest, Instagram Story is still liked by Gen Z because they can have relationships with close friends and friends.

Social Actions

Social issues are one of Gen Z's biggest interests on Instagram, and have always been the topic they follow. They believe that they can change the world for the better and overcome social inequality through other social actions.

Social Identity

Compared to the previous generation, Gen Z wanted more personal and more specific content with the interests they liked. Meta has already released Avatar, as a character that can be personalized according to the wishes of its users.

Not quite there, the survey also revealed that as many as 65 percent of Gen Z in Indonesia wants to see more Virtual Reality (VR) features on Instagram.
