JAKARTA - Apple appears to be reducing relations or dependence on China, where the company plans to move production of its iPad devices to India.

The company is reportedly in discussions with officials about the production of the iPad in India, although it is not known exactly when it will be implemented.

This isn't the first time Apple will make a business plan to India, the company has started assembling the iPhone 14 and an old model that has also been produced there for years.

Earlier in 2022, Apple reported testing the iPhone SE (2022) for the Indian market, alongside current iPad and iPad Air models.

Apple is not without reason to divert its iPad production from China, in addition to the increasingly cold country's relationship with the United States (US), the COVID-19 lockdown policy has led to a large supply shortage for certain Apple devices.

A report from the Wall Street Journal said Apple was advancing its plans to diversify its supply chain. In particular, Apple encourages its suppliers to do more NPI (new product recognition) work outside China.

Launching 9to5Mac, Wednesday, December 7, moving NPI's work outside China will help build an advanced manufacturing ecosystem in countries like India.

Currently, the lack of a more advanced manufacturing process in other countries is the biggest obstacle for Apple's work to move overseas.

Indeed, now China is Apple's largest production center for most of its products, although it has taken several steps to change it. In addition to iPhone production in India, several models are also produced in Brazil. Apple's Luxshare and Inventec partners are located in Vietnam, where AirPods and HomePod products are produced.

Elsewhere, Apple CEO Tim Cook recently notified Apple employees in Germany that the company wants to produce more chips at their place of origin, as well as in Europe.

The idea is to reduce dependence on Taiwan, which is responsible for about 60 percent of world semiconductor production.
