JAKARTA - Cyber threats are increasing, especially in today's hybrid era. In 2022, Kaspersky's system found an average cyber threat increased when compared to last 2021.

For malicious files, Kaspersky found a 5% increase or about 400,000 malicious files successfully distributed daily by cybercriminals.

The number of other types of threats is also increasing, such as ransomware. During 2022, Kaspersky experts found an 181% increase in the proportion of ransomware detected daily.

Meanwhile, Windows continues to be the main target of spreading cyberattacks, among all other platforms. This year, Kaspersky found an average of nearly 320,000 malicious files attacking Windows devices. Of all the malicious file deployments, 85% of them targeted Windows.

However, Windows isn't the only platform popular for attackers. In 2022, the company also found that the share of malicious files in Microsoft Office format distributed daily is doubling (236% growth).

Then, there is also a 10% increase in the share of malicious files targeting the Android platform every day.

So, in addition to Windows and Office files, Android users are also one of the favorite targets of online attackers. The 2022 campaign Harly and the famous Trojan mire and has ambushed thousands of Android users around the world, is a prime example of this trend.

Being a cybercriminal is never this easy before. It's very important not only for large organizations but also ordinary users to use reliable security solutions, thus avoiding becoming victims of these cybercriminals," said Vladimir Kuskov, head of anti-mallware research at Kaspersky.

Kuskov said Kaspersky experts would in turn do their best to protect against this threat and save users from losses so their daily online experiences can be completely safe.
