JAKARTA - The Ministry of Communication and Information through the Directorate General of Post and Information Device Resources (SDPPI), Ismail still does not want to comment regarding the viral video of the alleged Set Top Box that exploded.

Ismail said Kominfo still had to find out first what caused the explosion of the STB.

"There are various causes of the fire, yes, we have to find the cause, whether it's due to a short circuit, an electrical short circuit, so I can't comment yet. I still want to find information first," said Ismail at the 2022 APJATEL National Working Meeting in Jakarta, Tuesday, November 29.

Previously, it was crowded on social media a video showing the TV of a resident exploding because of the alleged use of STB.

The 15-second video was uploaded by an aderrytv account user, which shows where the TV melted from the fire.

"Please be careful STB often makes TVs explode. Be careful, don't turn on TV using STB too long," wrote the account.

Set Top Box or STB is an additional electronic device installed so analog TV can still be used to watch television broadcasts after the Analog Switch Off (ASO) in early November.

STB has a variety of prices, ranging from Rp. 150,000 to Rp. 500,000. Kominfo has also issued STB certifications that are in accordance with standards.

As a guideline for the public to buy certified STB, people can buy STB which has a special sign on the device packaging, namely the T2 DVB logo, Ready Digital writing, or Modi mascot images.
