YOGYAKARTA - The government plans to distribute 680 thousand electricity rice cookers (PNL) to the public. The purpose of this policy is to support the use of clean power and increase electricity consumption per capita. So what is the reason for the government to distribute free rice cookers?

A total of 680 thousand units of this rice treatment will be distributed through the State Budget of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources 2023. The point of this program package is IDR 500 thousand per beneficiary family (KPM).

According to the presentation presented by the Sub-Coordinator of the Electricity Business Commercial Entity Facilities Facility, the Directorate of Electricity Entrepreneurship Development, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Edy Pratiknyo, there are pluses minus the use of 200 watt and 300 watts of rice breeders for 450VA customers.

Reasons and Goals

In terms of time freedom, 200 watt PNL can be applied all the time. Meanwhile, the 300 watt PNL can only be used in the morning and evening. The breeder cannot be used at night or when all the lights are on because the electricity will be cut (down).

Furthermore, in terms of capacity, 200 watt PNL has a smaller capacity so that cooking can be more than once to meet the needs. On the other hand, PNL 300 watts has a large capacity so that cooking can be enough once a day.

"From the policy of the rice treatment program, there are pluses and minuses, here it is related to small capacity so that cooking can be more once. The capacity of 300 watts should be greater so that cooking is enough once a day," he said at the Public Talk Forum as written by Pekan (27/11/2022).

According to him, related to this policy, an in-depth study is needed, including involving universities for this.

Furthermore, in his presentation, it was shown, for PNL 200 watts there was no need for additional energy. Meanwhile, PNL 300 watt requires added energy for cooking comfort which results in additional tariffs to increase energy from 450 VA to 900 VA, and subsidized customers' electricity costs changed from Rp 415/kWh (450 VA) to Rp 605/kWh (900VA).

Then it is told that there are a number of options for this PNL. The first option is for 450VA and 900VA customers to be given PNL with a capacity of 0.8 L with an energy of 200 W. Second, 450VA customers are given PNL with a capacity of 0.8 L with an energy of 200 watts and 900 VA customers are given PNL with a capacity of 1 L with an energy of 300 watts.

Third, 450VA and 900VA customers are given PNL with a capacity of 1 L and an energy of 300 watts, provided that 450VA customers are willing to increase energy to 900VA independently.
