JAKARTA - The issue of data leaks is currently happening a lot, especially in Indonesia. Although this is not the first case, incidents like this keep repeating themselves.

DANA, as one of the most popular digital wallet providers in Indonesia, shares several of the company's efforts to maintain the security of its customer data.

"The customer data actually has customers. If we want that data or the company wants data, we have to get first consent from customers," said Norman, CTO DANA to VOI, some time ago.

According to Norman, the data has its own type, and each data has a different treatment. Norman mentioned several dats, including data at Rest, data stored in the database. Then data in Motion, data that is being transferred. There is also data in Use, data that is being viewed in the application, or accessed by users.

"Well, data at Rest, data in Motion and data in Use must always be protected, and protection in each type of data is different," said Norman further.

Norman said, for data at Rest, because it contains sensitive data, DANA always applies encryption.

So, to maintain customer data security, the first DANA is to categorize the data type, to ensure what treatment is appropriate.

"We have to categorize, we can't treat all types of data. So if private data really has to be treated more strictly, put more effort and investment," he concluded.

The data also does not share user data with its partners by implementing zero sharing policy.

"Because sometimes, for example, if we integrate with partners, then there is an exchange of data, we have protected desperately in our system, but it turns out that the partner side is broken. It's the same as lying. So we are very striking in data matters," said Norman.
