JAKARTA - In a few hours NASA will carry out a historic mission to launch a Space Launch System (SLS) mega rocket to the Moon.

The launch will take place on Wednesday morning at 10.30 WIB or Tuesday night PT directly from the foundation of the Kennedy Space Center, Florida, United States (US).

Previously this mission failed to launch due to technical problems, extreme weather and persistent storms in the region. But in the end NASA set out today to launch the much-awaited mission.

In this historic event, the world's most powerful SLS rocket will send the crewless Orion spacecraft to fly past the Moon as part of the Artemis I mission, marking the start of a new era of space exploration.

To watch launch preparations, as well as its own launch, NASA broadcasts it via NASA's YouTube channel. NASA will also broadcast live the spectacular views of Earth from cameras on Orion.

For information, the successful Artemis I mission will pave the way for Artemis II, which will fly on the same path, but this time with the crew.

After that, Artemis III will aim to place the first woman and first person of color on the lunar surface, possibly as early as 2025.
