JAKARTA - Google will start rolling out a software update early next week to address the problems experienced by Nest WiFi Pro. It is claimed, many users experience a slow internet connection.

"Currently, the company is investigating reports of a small number of users experiencing a decrease in internet speed on the Nest Wifi Pro router. The team is working to launch an improvement," said Google Nest WiFi product leader Sanjay Noronha.

Nest WiFi Pro is a Google-owned router. This device replaces existing Wi-Fi routers and consists of routers and dots, which will expand the scope in the user's home and also function as Google Assistant speakers.

Last month, Nest WiFi Pro launched at a price of 199 US dollars equivalent to IDR 3 million. At that time, Google touted support for Wi-Fi 6E which generated speeds of up to 5.4Gbps.

The device also opened the 6GHz band which helps reduce network congestion, and automatically adjusts network performance to minimize disruption.

However, various reports appear in the Google Nest community forum on issues that cause download speeds and uploads to be limited from 40Mbps to 90Mbps.

Many users say their old Nest WiFi Pro, which only supports Wi-Fi 5, is actually superior to the new device.

Even so, not everyone who buys new routers has this problem. Launching The Verge, Monday, November 14, as confirmed by Google, it mostly affects users in the UK with point-to-point protocols through the ethernet network (PPPoE).

The system is used by many digital subscriber line (DSL) providers and involves router configurations with usernames and passwords before they can connect to the internet.

Judging from the reports on the forum, this issue also appears to affect users in the United States (US) and other parts of Europe, as well as those using fiber.

Unfortunately, Google did not inform what caused the speed to decrease, but it is hoped that the upcoming software update will complete it.
