JAKARTA - Nintendo and mobile game company DeNA announced the establishment of a new joint venture during a board of directors meeting held on Tuesday, November 8 yesterday.

Previously, Nintendo and DeNA had been working together since 2015. The establishment of this joint venture shows the steps of the two companies to the next level.

"As part of this effort, Nintendo entered a business and capital alliance with DeNA in 2015 and has collaborated to develop and operate a new core system centered around the Nintendo Account since then," Nintendo wrote in a statement shared on Twitter.

Nintendo menyebutkan, tujuan dari pembentukan perusahaan gabungan ini adalah untuk memperkuat digitalisasi bisnisnya, serta akan berfokus pada penelitian dan pengembangan gim di masa mendatang.

"With the aim of strengthening Nintendo's business digitization, this joint venture will research and develop, and create added-value services to further strengthen Nintendo's relationship with consumers," the company continued.

The company's official name is Nintendo Systems, and will serve as a subsidiary of Nintendo, with the latter accounting for 80 percent of its 5 billion yen (IDR 537 billion) capital.

Furthermore, the studio said that some Nintendo employees and officials would also take on the role of director at Nintendo Systems.

Since Nintendo and DeNA began working together in 2015, they have jointly developed several services centered around Nintendo Accounts.

Meanwhile, DeNA has also managed to work on a number of mobile game titles for Nintendo, including Miitomo, Super Mario Run, Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, Mario Kart Tour, and many more.
