United Airlines Join Other Companies Stop Advertising On Twitter, Elon Musk Akui Revenues Down!

United Airlines joins other companies to suspend their ads on Twitter, claimed to be concerned over the new social media directives under the owner Elon Musk.

The major US airline confirmed to Reuters yesterday that the company had suspended advertising spending on Twitter.

United Airlines' move joins companies such as multinational food producer General Mills, automaker Audi, and pharmaceutical giant Pfizer to stop their Twitter ads as Musk's era began.

Reports from Bloomberg also say Microsoft, HBO, and Verizon are considering similar steps. However, they are still waiting and seeing how Twitter is under Musk's leadership.

Last week, not long after Musk took over Twitter, General Motors (GM), as a competitor to Musk, said he would tackle advertising because he wanted to evaluate Twitter's new direction.

However, GM will continue to use the platform to interact with customers but does not pay for advertising.

We are engaged with Twitter to understand the direction of the platform under their new holdings. As with normal businesses with significant changes to media platforms, we have temporarily suspended our paid advertising," GM told CNBC International some time ago.

"The interaction of our customer service on Twitter (still) will continue," he added.

Furthermore, responding to the actions of these advertisers, quoted by NBC News, Musk stated, "Twitter has experienced a major decline in revenue," Musk tweeted.

In addition, Musk also blamed the activist group which he said pressured advertisers, "Very chaotic! They are trying to destroy free speech in America," Musk added.

For information, a group consisting of 60 civil rights groups and civil society, including the NAACP and the Anti-Defamation League, launched websites, StopToxicTwitter.com.

The site urged major brands to stop advertising on Twitter. However, there is no evidence that the company or advertising group has acted in response to the campaign.
