JAKARTA - The online dating app Bumble is rolling out a new rule, where if a user deliberately makes a false report related to another user, it will be removed from the platform.

The rule follows the refusal action of the Bumble moderator at about 90 percent of reports of violations aimed at members who do not conform to gender.

Bumble has found that some people report other users based on identity-based discrimination, but not because the profile actually violates any rules.

With this rule, those who make false reports can deliberately find themselves removed from the platform.

"Identity-based hatred is a problem that has a negative impact on many communities, and is something people are increasingly facing that doesn't fit gender, such as trans and non-binary people, on online dating," Bumble said in a statement. quoted from CNET, Friday, October 28.

Last year's MIT Media Lab discovered how the Texas-based dating app, United States (US) became a full and even dangerous place for people in marginalized communities.

Where Bumble has a filter that allows users to avoid dating with certain ethnicities to privacy concerns for those LGBTQ communities. Online dating can be another way to express hatred for certain groups.

Launching CNET, Saturday, October 29, Bumble also prohibits identity-based hatred, including race, ethnicity, state or national origin, immigration status, caste, gender, identity or gender expression, sexual orientation, disability, serious health conditions, or religion.

"We want our members to be safe and free from hatred that targets them just because of who they are," said Bumble safety policy leader Azmina Dhrodia.

Previously, Google had also created an AI tool dubbed Private Detector open source. This tool can blur photos of the joke and warn users before they see the image.
