Hyundai Motor Company announced that they are officially sponsors of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, to help the world's biggest football tournament achieve zero carbon.

With this inauguration, Hyundai will provide environmentally friendly vehicles for 50 percent of athletes' transportation. This is also the first in history, the FIFA match has environmentally friendly vehicles.

"Hyundai Motor and FIFA have a strong commitment to making this year's event a sustainable success through the use of clean mobility," said Jae Hoon Chang, President and CEO of Hyundai Motor Company in a statement shared on Twitter.

Chang added, by providing our hybrid electric vehicle and environmentally friendly batteries as land transportation, he hopes to achieve a common goal of making the World Cup in Qatar a win-win for planet Earth and humanity.

Overall, Hyundai will provide 616 vehicles for the 2022 FIFA World Cup. From that fleet, there will be 446 passenger vehicles, with more than half (226 units) becoming hybrid electric (HEV) and battery electric (BEV) models.

Hyundai will also provide 10 Elec City electric buses for use during the event, which takes place in Qatar from November 20 to December 18.

FIFA will provide EV chargers 100 kW-150 kW at the event parking facility which will be located in Doha, Qatar, to ensure the BEV's ongoing operation.

The South Korean vehicle manufacturer will also monitor fleet vehicles in real-time for any damage or accidents, and provide a quick service response, such as emergency deliveries, problem solving, and vehicle inspections as needed.

Not only providing vehicles, starting this October, Hyundai has carried out training programs on HEV and BEV for all drivers involved in fleet operations.
