JAKARTA - The social media application belonging to the former President of the United States (US), Donald Trump, has successfully obtained approval from Google, and now Truth Social is emblazoned on the Play Store.
Previously, Google refused to distribute the achievement, because it was worried about content moderation that was inadequate as social media.
According to the search engine giant, Truth Social hosts threats of violence and other content that go against Google's standards.
All apps on the Google Play Store should have effective user-made content moderation, including users who can report content and the ability to delete or block users who abuse and violate app policies.
"Applications can be distributed on Google Play as long as they comply with our developer guidelines, including the requirement to effectively moderate user-made content and delete unpleasant posts such as inciting violence," a Google spokesperson said in a statement quoted by Bloomberg, Thursday, October 13.
But now Google says Truth Social has agreed to enforce its policies, including removing any content that triggers violence.
"It's great to work with Google, and we're happy they helped us to finally bring Truth Social to everyone American, regardless of what device they use," said TMTG CEO Devin Nunes.
CNET reported that Truth Social was already available on the Samsung Galaxy Store last week, while users can also download it from the Truth Social website. In fact, this application can also be downloaded on Apple's App Store since last February.
