JAKARTA - Elon Musk announced that its electric car brand, Tesla, has started its long-awaited production of the Tesla Semi Truck, and plans to start sending it to Pepsi on December 1.

The beverage company already ordered 100 electric transport vehicles in December 2017 when Tesla announced it for the first time. But unfortunately, the 8th grade electric truck, which was supposed to be launched in 2019, had to be delayed for years.

"We are pleased to announce the start of Tesla Semi Truck production by sending it to Pepsi on December 1," Musk wrote on Twitter on Friday, October 7.

Launching The Verge, Tesla promises that semi trucks can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 20 seconds even when they are "full load" and maintain road level speeds and even steep climbs.

More than that, this truck is claimed to be able to recharge up to 70 percent of the range of 300 or 500 miles in just 30 minutes. "The range is 500 miles and it's great to ride," Musk said.

However, Elon Musk surprisingly announced in August that Tesla Semi would actually start shipping later this year.

Semi Tesla electric trucks are being produced in Nevada near Tesla's Gigafactory. Last year, Electrek exclusively reported that Tesla was building a production line for Tesla Semi in a new building near Gigafactory.

At the time, they reported that Tesla would produce about 5 electric trucks per week. The electric car leader also plans to move to higher volume production at the Texas Gigafactory.

The company plans to use the 15 trucks for the project to convert the Frito-Lay Modesto location, California, into an zero-emissions facility. Last year, PepsiCo said it would receive delivery of the 15 Semi Tesla trucks by the end of the year before being postponed again.
