JAKARTA - Kaspersky researchers recently discovered ongoing malicious campaigns being distributed through YouTube channels.

This cybercriminal perpetrator spread malware to collect users' personal data and gain full control over the victim's computer by placing the link to the infected Tor Browser version in the video description bar about Darknet.

Kaspersky researchers have identified several cases of infection via malicious Tor Browser installers that spread via video about Darknet on YouTube. The channel has more than 170,000 subscribers, while the number of video views with malicious links exceeds 57,000.

Most of the affected users are from China. Since the Tor Browser website is blocked in China, people from this country are often forced to download the Tor from third-party websites.

Kucherin added that this trend will remain around for some time, which is why Kaspersky strongly recommends installing reliable security solutions to remain protected against all potential threats.
