160,000 Cars Forced To Be Pulled Back From South Korea

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Transportation of South Korea conducted a massive recall of vehicles from six automotive manufacturers in the country. Because the discovery of 160,000 vehicles that had component damage.

The vehicles come from automotive manufacturers from Hyundai Motor Co and Mercedes-Benz. The recall is a series of recall by car manufacturers operating in South Korea and vehicle importers due to vehicle component problems.

"The other four companies are Kia Motors Corp., Renault Samsung Motors Corp., GM Korea Co and Daijeon Machinery Co.," the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport said in a statement quoted by Yonhap News Agency, Thursday, November 26.

"Combined, a total of six companies had to recall 163,843 vehicles due to defective components in 19 models," the statement added.

In this case, there were problems from a faulty electro-hydraulic control unit in the Tucson Hyundai Motor SUV, a faulty rear seat seat belt system in Mercedes-Benz's GLE 450 4MATIC SUV and a faulty battery control unit in GM Korea's new Malibu sedan.

Companies have started to provide or will offer repair and replacement services. Vehicle owners can call or visit a designated repair and service center to replace parts free of charge.
