JAKARTA - YouTube has again suspended content from the local news channel United States (US) owned by One America News Network (OANN). Because it is considered to spread misinformation related to promoting fake coronavirus or COVID-19 drugs.

According to The Guardian's report, Wednesday November 25th, OANN was found to have uploaded a video that violated the platform's rules, the video contained content claiming that there was a guaranteed cure for COVID-19.

With the suspension, OANN was unable to upload its video content for a week, including monetizing revenue from the channel. This means that OANN will have to reapply to be allowed to monetize their content again.

"(OANN) is committing repeated violations of this policy. Since the start of this pandemic, we have been working to prevent the spread of misinformation related to COVID-19 on YouTube," said YouTube spokeswoman Ivy Choi.

Previously, OANN had also gone viral for reporting on Donald Trump's claim of victory in the US Presidential Election. Due to invalid information, YouTube has given a warning to the OANN channel.

Choi added that a number of viral OAN video content had been deleted. Where the content has violated the rules of misinformation.

So far, YouTube has also reviewed hundreds of video content related to misinformation about COVID-19 which is misleading. In fact, since February, YouTube has removed 200,000 video content containing misinformation content.
