JAKARTA - Roblox announced a new funding wave called Game Fund for developers who need funds to build their games. As a first step, Roblox will provide funding of US$25 million (Rp370 billion).

Game Fund has actually been launched since last summer, or in July 2021. Now, during the 2022 Roblox Developers Conference (RDC) event, the company said it would increase investment funds from 10 million US dollars (Rp148 billion) to 35 million US dollars (Rp519 billion).

When they first announced their program, Roblox said that they really wanted to partner by providing funds as a form of company support for game developers.

"Our goal is to partner closely with you to provide funding and support for the development of your content. Funding for approved participants will start at least US$500,000 per project," the company wrote last year, quoted from the Roblox developer forum site, Sunday 11 September.

"From enhanced tools to extended support through programs like the Roblox Game Fund, we remain committed to our community. The world belongs to us to be made. We can't wait to see what you're making next," the company wrote on Twitter.

Kemudian, ketika dikonfirmasi oleh TechCrunch, Roblox mengatakan bahwa Game Fund hadir untuk memberikan finansial dan panduan bagi mereka yang sedang berusaha membangun gim.

Decreating and building a high fidelity experience with new technology, well-known IP, and rich storylines takes an intensive time and requires a bigger team, so Game Fund is here to provide financial support and guidance to creators participating in reducing development risks, Roblox Community Development Head Jad Boniface told TechCrunch.

Roblox sees its Game Fund program as a way to support impressive and visually interesting games that are mostly invisible or even functioning like a well-known platform.
