JAKARTA - After the alleged leak of 17 PLN user data, the public was again shocked by a similar incident with the number of leaks that were not kidding, even more data on the alleged PLN data leak.

According to a tweet by a cyber security consultant, Teguh Aprianto, on Twitter, the theft of data from 26 million browsing histories from stolen Indihome users was shared for free, along with their names and NIK.

Earlier in 2020, Teguh said that he had pressured Indihome to turn off their tracker which had been used to steal customers' browsing history, and it turns out that the data is now leaked and shared for free.

"In 2020, we managed to press IndiHome to turn off their tracker, which has been used to steal customers' browsing history," Teguh said on Twitter, quoted Monday, August 22.

"Now 26 million stolen browsing histories have been leaked and distributed for free. It turns out that the names and NIK are following," continued Teguh.

According to Teguh, the data leak can harm users. Teguh gave an example where there is one user who is opening an adult video, then the stolen data will identify their name and NIK which could be material to humiliate that person.

In response to this issue, the Ministry of Communication and Information (Kemenkominfo) said in a release that they were currently investigating the alleged incident.

"The Ministry of Communications and Informatics will also immediately summon Telkom's management to obtain a report and Telkom's follow-up steps related to the alleged incident," wrote Kominfo.

Furthermore, Kominfo together with the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN) will soon issue technical recommendations to improve the implementation of Telkom's personal data protection.
