JAKARTA - Apple has just introduced its newest MacBook Air, MacBook Pro and Mac Mini which are supported by their latest chipset, Apple Silicon M1. Based on benchmark results for the entire device, it appears on the Geekbench site.

The benchmarks show the M1 chipset, which is owned by the ‌MacBook Air‌ with 8GB RAM, yielding a single-core score of 1,687 and a multi-core score of 7,433. The M1 chipset also has a base frequency of 3.2GHz.

When compared to existing devices, the M1 chipset in the ‌MacBook Air‌ outperforms all iOS devices. In comparison, the iPhone 12 Pro scored a single-core score of 1,584 and a multi-core score of 3,898, as summarized from The Next Web.

However, when compared to previous generations of Macs, the M1's single-core and multi-core performance were better and beat all 16-inch MacBook Pro models from 2019. Including Mac models using the upscale 10th generation Intel Core i9 2.4 GHz.

Where the single-core test results get 1,118 and multi-core numbers in the range of 6,762. Meanwhile, the MacBook Pro 17.1 with the M1 chipset received a single-core score of 1,714 and a multi-core score of 6,802.

While the M1 chipset outperforms the 16-inch MacBook Pro model in terms of raw CPU benchmarks, the 16-inch MacBook Pro is likely to offer better performance in other areas such as the GPU as it has a separate, high-power GPU.

For the record, although both use the M1 chipset, there may be some differences in performance between the MacBook Pro and the ‌MacBook Air, because the ‌MacBook Air‌ has a fanless design and the MacBook Pro has a new Apple-designed cooling system.

Finally, there are benchmarks for the Mac Mini, but they score pretty much the same. The ‌Mac Mini‌ with the M1 chipset earned a single-core score of 1682 and a multi-core score of 7097.
