JAKARTA - Since it was first launched until now, WhatsApp has always developed ways to protect the conversations of its users. This time, it brings some new privacy features.

"This suite of features is our way of keeping your conversations safe on WhatsApp," the company wrote in a statement.

The first feature to be launched is Leave Group Without Notification. When you're in a group, you'll see a "[Participant name] exited" notification. But that won't be the case anymore, because WhatsApp has developed a feature that lets you quietly exit groups.

When you leave a group, the group members won't see the notification, only the group admins. According to the existing announcement, this feature will be rolled out to all WhatsApp users starting this month.

The next new privacy feature is Hiding Online Status. Hiding online status is actually a company plan that we have known for a long time. However, there is no definite confirmation when it will be launched.

Just like leaving a group without notifications, WhatsApp will roll out to choose who can and can't see when you're online starting this month.

As VOI has explained before, setting this feature will be similar to the "Last seen" feature. You can see "Everyone", "My contacts", "My contacts except… ", and "None" options.

The last feature to roll out is Block Screenshots for One View Messages. As many of you know, this feature lets you share photos or media for one viewing only, and doesn't need to be permanently digitalized.

Therefore, it is not uncommon for someone to take a screenshot because they want to save it in the gallery. However, someone who sends a one-time message must have other reasons not to leave a digital imprint permanently.

Because of this, WhatsApp will bring the ability to block screenshots for One View messages as an added layer of protection. But at the moment, the company says that they are still in the testing phase and will be rolling out to all users soon.
