JAKARTA - Although the 5G network is not yet fully distributed and used throughout the world. However, many giant technology companies have begun collaborating to develop the next internet network, namely 6G.

Quoted from the CNET page, Apple, Google and LG have reportedly joined the Next G Alliance telecommunications industry group which has a goal of developing the 5G internet network and beyond in the next few decades.

Apart from Apple and Google, several other technology companies that are members of the Alliance for Telecommunications Industry Solutions (ATIS) include the US operators AT&T, Verizon, US Cellular and T-Mobile, as well as Charter Communications, Cisco, Hewlett Packard Enterprise and Intel.

ATIS CEO Susan Miller said, Next G Alliance members will carry out research and development, manufacturing, standardization, and market readiness.

"Our founding members represent leading industry stakeholders driving innovation in the mobile ecosystem," he said, Monday, November 16.

So far, the technology giant from China, Huawei, is not on the list where they have already carried out the development of the 5G network. Even last year's reports suggest Huawei has started doing 6G research on its own.

The working group is expected to start in early 2021. Although there is no timeline for when 6G will enter the market or what form or offer it will look like.
