JAKARTA - Netizens' protests against the Ministry of Communication and Information (Kemenkominfo) for blocking a line of Electronic System Providers (PSE) have flooded social media.

Responding to this, the Director General of Informatics Applications (Aptika), Semuel Abrijani Pangerapan gave a continuation of blocking access to PayPal, Steam, Dota 2 and Counter-Strike Global Offensive.

In a press conference held on Sunday, July 31, Samuel said that Kominfo had already held talks with the three online gaming platforms.

"We have managed to contact them, so now there is correspondence with Steam, Dota, and CS GO funds. Hopefully in the near future they will be able to complete (the requirements)," said Samuel.

Samuel continued, the three foreign PSEs that provide online gaming platforms are preparing the requirements to register them with Kominfo.

He hopes that the three PSEs can be completed quickly and gamers can play again as before.

On the other hand, online game platforms that have also been blocked by Kominfo such as Epic Games Store and Origin have not contacted the Ministry of Communication and Informatics to date.

"We always open opportunities for anyone who wants to be a part of Indonesia's digital ecosystem," he said.

In addition to providing a continuation regarding Foreign PSE registrations from online gaming platforms, Samuel also said that the PayPal service had been temporarily opened starting this morning.

Samuel hopes that the opening of this temporary block can be put to good use by the community to migrate funds to other, safer financial services. The temporary opening will last until August 5 at 23:59.
