JAKARTA - WhatsApp is developing two new features; hide online status and save temporary messages.

The WABetaInfo page, quoted on Sunday, July 24, reported, hiding online status was found in the beta version of WhatsApp for Android 2.22.16.12. A few weeks earlier, the instant messaging platform was also testing the feature for iOS devices.

The online status will be visible when the user is opening the instant messaging application. In this feature being tested, users can set whether they want to appear online when opening the app.

WhatsApp provides two options for this privacy setting, namely that everyone can see when they are online and the same as last seen or "same as last seen".

If the user selects the same setting as last seen, the user can set him or her not to be seen while online.

The trick, select the no one option in the who can see when last opened WhatsApp, then the user will not be online when opening the application.

WhatsApp also notes that if you choose no one can see your online and last seen status, then you can't see the status of other users either.

The second feature being developed by the application belonging to Meta Platforms is storing temporary messages or often referred to as "kept messages".

Users can set temporary messages (disappearing messages), which will disappear within a certain period, to be seen as regular messages.

WABetaInfo found this feature on WhatsApp beta for desktop version and Android 2.22.11.16. Temporary messages can be saved, this feature applies to group chats.

WhatsApp restricts only group administrators from enabling this feature. WhatsApp will create a new section to view saved temporary messages. All group members will be able to see the saved messages.

Keep in mind these features are currently being tested and only available through the beta app, specifically to try out new WhatsApp features. It is not yet known whether this feature will be launched and when it will be available to general users.
