JAKARTA - ShopeePay has successfully defeated GoPay and OVO to become the most frequently used digital wallet platforms in Indonesia. These results are based on a survey conducted by Ipsos Indonesia's market research during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Based on the results of a survey conducted online on 16-23 October 2020 with a sample of 1,000 respondents who are quite active in e-commerce transactions. The result is that 34 percent of users choose ShopeePay to be the most frequently used digital wallet, following OVO 28 percent then GoPay 17 percent, Funds 14 percent, and Link Aja 7 percent.

"ShopeePay users argue that in addition to the many promotions, Shopee's transaction tools are also easy to use," said Managing Director of Ipsos in Indonesia Soeprapto Tan in his statement, Thursday, November 5.

Soeprapto sees a trend in the use of e-wallet applications or digital wallets in Indonesia. Even during the COVID-19 pandemic, there was an increase of 44 percent of Indonesians who used cashless payments.

Based on the transaction value, ShopeePay also recorded the highest transaction value in the last three months. Then followed by OVO (27 percent of the total), then GoPay (22 percent of the total), Dana (14 percent of the total), and LinkAja (7 percent).

According to Ipsos Indonesia's Associate Project Director, Indah Tanip, the use of digital wallet services increases along with the number of promos that are presented when making transactions. This also attracts the attention of users to shop online.

"Promos are important. But customer satisfaction is not only from the promos. For example, the ease of service in using them," said Indah.
