Minister Of Communication And Information Encourages Google, Netflix, WhatsApp Companies To Register For Foreign PSEs

JAKARTA - Continuing its press conference some time ago, the Ministry of Communication and Information (Kemenkominfo) encourages all private sector Electronic System Operators (PSE) both domestic and foreign to immediately re-register.

"I emphasize that if there is an error in registering, then the PSE will become unregistered. And if it is not registered and is still operating, it means that it is operating illegally," explained the Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Johnny G. Plate quoted Tuesday, June 28. .

The Director General of Informatics Applications (Aptika) of the Ministry of Communications and Informatics, Semuel Abrijani Pangerapan stated that so far there have been 4,634 PSEs registered with the Ministry of Communications and Informatics, including 4,559 domestic PSEs and 75 foreign PSEs.

Domestic PSEs that have registered include Go-Jek, Traveloka, Bukalapak, and many others. "Global PSEs such as TikTok, Linktree, Spotify and so on," continued Samuel.

To this day, the names of large foreign companies such as Google, WhatsApp, Facebook, Telegram, Instagram, YouTube, Netflix have not been seen on the Kemenkominfo's list of Foreign PSEs.

In accordance with the Circular Letter of the Minister of Communication and Information No. 3 of 2022 which was signed on June 14, 2022 concerning the Effective Date of Registration of Private Scope Electronic System Operators, the deadline for registration of private sector PSEs both domestic and foreign through the Risk-Based Electronic Integrated Business Licensing System is Online Single Submission Risk-Based Approach (OSS RBA), will expire on 20 July 2022.

"If the PSE does not register by the deadline on July 20, 2022, the unregistered PSE is an illegal PSE in the Indonesian jurisdiction. And if it is categorized as illegal, it can be blocked," he said.

In addition, Samuel Abrijani also said that the Minister of Communication and Information had held meetings with 66 large categories of Electronic System Operators operating in Indonesia. During the meeting, Minister Johnny reminded and emphasized the urgency of registering PSE operating in Indonesia.
