Following Nintendo And Activision Blizzard, PlayStation Will Also Not Be Present At Gamescom 2022 Exhibition In Germany

JAKARTA - Like Nintendo, Activision Blizzard, Take-Two Interactive, and Wargaming, Sony has also decided to miss the 2022 Gamescom event.

Gamescom is the world's leading gaming trade fair and exhibition. This year's Gamescom was held as a face-to-face event after going through a long period of the COVID-19 pandemic. Gamescom 2022 will take place August 24-28, in Cologne, Germany.

Telling GamesWirtschaft, a spokesperson for Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) confirmed its absence at Gamescom 2022. Sony's absence from this exhibition means that upcoming Sony innovations such as PS VR2 or its latest titles will not appear at the German exhibition.

Launching VGC, the organizers of Gamescom claim there will be more than 250 companies attending this year's event, but so far, only a handful of names have been announced such as Bandai Namco, THQ Nordic and Koch Media which have publicly confirmed.

The five-day Gamescom 2022 exhibition will be a hybrid event, held live in Cologne, Germany and simultaneously broadcast online.

The event will launch with Gamescom Opening Night Live on August 23. Then, it will be open to trade visitors, press, and content creators the next day, August 24th.

In addition to the main business and entertainment areas of the convention, Gamescom 2022 also promises “additional sections, including for cosplay, retro and indie fans”.

Ticket sales for private and trade visitors have been going on for almost two weeks. According to organizers, 60,000 tickets have already been sold.
