JAKARTA - Paramount Global's global streaming service Paramount+ has announced its investment in content of international origin with a series of original series set to debut worldwide. The streamer service plans to order 150 international originals by 2025.
The international works include Sinaloa's First Lady, One Must Die, Murder of God's Banker, The Sheikh (Der Scheich), A Thin Line, Marie Antoinette Serial Killer (France) and Circeo (Italy).
According to the release, in addition to delivering global content, Paramount+ will also present premium local programs to cater to all types of audiences in all markets where the service is available.
The original will be produced in partnership with VIS, Paramount's international studio, which is a division of the company's extensive worldwide studio footprint spanning more than 20 countries.
With this huge investment, Paramount may be aiming to see the kind of traction other platforms are getting from their own international original.
The announcement comes ahead of Paramount Plus' expansion to the UK and Ireland on June 22, Italy in September, Germany, Switzerland, Austria (GSA) and France in December.
