Cardano Announces Vasil Hard Fork Will Launch Late This June

JAKARTA – Cardano's development team, Input Output (IOHK) recently responded to speculation regarding the postponement of the Vasil hard fork, which is scheduled to launch this month. According to IOHK, the time for Vasil's launch is drawing near.

This was conveyed by the vice president and ecosystem at IOHK, Tim Harrison. He said that Vasil would be released at the end of June.

“As of mid-month, we are very close now (to launch time) but ultimately need to assess the readiness of DApps, exchanges, SPOs, etc. We will have an update for everyone,” said Tim, 18 June 2022.

The Vasil hard fork is rumored to be experiencing major problems so that the launch will be postponed to next August. The IOHK denied these rumors. According to the Cardano development team, everything is going according to plan.

Harrison then explained that the community would be notified of the latest developments regarding the Vasil hard fork. IOHK is currently focusing on Vasil development and integration. The hard fork is expected to increase the capabilities of Cardano and its Plutus smart contracts.

What is Vasil Cardano Hard Fork?

Vasil's name was inspired by the Bulgarian mathematician Vasil Dabov. The Vasil hard fork is part of Cardano's network capacity building and smart contract programming language, Plutus. This upgrade enables the development of decentralized applications (Dapps) on the Cardano network.

Vasil is aimed at reducing block transmission latency to the Cardano blockchain. In essence, Vasil's hard fork is focused on improving the Cardano network for all its users, as well as improving the development experience for Cardano developers who use Plutus to build their decentralized applications.

On the other hand, it is not yet known whether this increase will have an effect on the increase in the price of the Cardano crypto (ADA) during a bear market.
