JAKARTA – While some people have no trouble falling asleep in a dark and quiet room, almost everyone needs a little help to fall asleep. Sleep podcasts are becoming popular here because they can provide a solution. A new study by retailer Sleepseeker has revealed the best podcasts to help you fall asleep easier.

The study used a variety of metrics to create the top 35 sleep podcasts, including podcast ratings and scores. The Sleep With Me podcast came out on top with a podcast score of 8.77, followed by the sleep podcast Nothing Much Happens, with a score of 8.35. Then in the top three is the Get Sleepy podcast, with a score of 8.23.

The study also looked at which sleep podcasts had the most subscribers. Sleep With Me ranks number one with over 200,000 Castbox subscribers, followed by Tracks to Relax with over 50,000 subscribers and Podcast Deep Energy with over 33,000.

As one of the most popular sleep podcasts in the world, Sleep With Me ranks first. What's surprising is the gulf in listeners and subscribers between Sleep With Me and its competitors.

Why are podcasts so popular? This sleep podcast launched in 2013 and is hosted by Drew Ackerman. Sleep With Me was inspired by the late-night radio comedy, which Ackerman says is the only thing that helps him fall asleep when dealing with insomnia.

It's basically a storytelling podcast, with stories inspired by Ackerman's childhood and beyond. Ackerman's relaxed tone and slow pace, and what he's talking about won't get your brain fired up, giving you a better chance to relax and fall asleep.

People who listen to this podcast even swear that it helps them fall asleep faster.

You can listen to Sleep With Me for free on Spotify, or you can track it on Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Listen with RadioPublic, and Android.

What are sleep podcasts and do they work?

Sleep podcasts help you feel calmer in bed, which can be complicated if you have experiences of insomnia, night terrors or pain during sleep that make you feel restless about sleep. A good sleep podcast will take your mind off worrying about falling asleep, so there's no stress. You can also access some podcasts through your sleep tracker, depending on their compatibility.

Those apps come in all kinds, but the most popular sleep podcasts have a narrator with an unobtrusive voice, which (to put it mildly), buzzes in the background while you lie back and relax.
