JAKARTA - Facebook has finally entered the world of cloud gaming. But the service is quite different from competitors such as Amazon or Google which offer game cloud services for a fee.

In fact, Facebook introduced cloud games to its existing applications, some of which are now playable.

"We play free to play, we play latency tolerant games, at least to start with. We don't promise 4K, 60fps, so you (don't have to) pay us $ 6.99 per month. We're not trying to get you to buy the device. hard, like a controller, "said Facebook Vice President Play, Jason Rubin, as quoted from TechCrunch, Tuesday, October 27.

Rubin said, Facebook has a reason why they are currently trying out cloud gaming, because the company wants to offer different types of games.

In fact, Facebook jumped into the gaming world more than a decade ago with Flash-based games like FarmVille before turning its head towards HTML5 for the Instant Games platform. Even so, both technologies have less or limited experience.

On the other hand, the HTML5 game is not lost but will be alongside the new cloud offering within the Facebook app.

"This platform will allow the 300 million players we have to continue playing the games they love, but we think they will develop and play more complex games as well," said Rubin.

Starting today, games on the free cloud have launched on Facebook in beta and the game's title pool mostly includes Android-based games, such as Asphalt 9 and Mobile Legends: Adventure.

Unfortunately, this cloud game is only available on the Android operating system and the web version. These cloud gaming services will not be found on the iOS version, because Apple has banned game streaming services on its platform, causing industry disruption.

Apple is known to change its App Store Review Guidelines last month. They allow streaming games provided each game title has to be submitted separately for review. For now, Facebook does not appear to be compatible with these guidelines.

"Even with Apple's new cloud gaming policies, we don't know if launching on the App Store is a viable path," said Rubin.
