JAKARTA - YouTube is launching Membership Gifting in beta for select channels starting Wednesday, May 11. These subscriptions are YouTube's way of subscribing like Twitch, allowing viewers to show financial support for content creators and gain access to certain perks such as custom emojis.

Previously, subscriptions like this had been on Twitch for a while, but YouTube is only about to launch it in beta.

"Starting tomorrow, we're excited to bring the beta version of Channel Subscription Rewards to a small group of creators, and over the next few months, we'll be actively expanding this feature to even more creators. You are updated on our Memberships Gifting expansion plans!" Jensen, YouTube Community Manager said in a Google announcement.

This subscription plan lets you access user badges, emojis, and other exclusive content from your favorite creators.

Google also provides some important important details that you should pay attention to. Here are the details:

Rewards membership uses the same 70/30 (Creator/YouTube) revenue share where the revenue share is calculated after App Store fees on iOS (where applicable) and other costs such as sales tax. Existing channel members are unable to receive gifted membership, Google wants to share the love with potential new channel members.

"We hope you are as excited about Memberships Gifting as we are, look forward to more updates on this feature soon!" close the announcement.
