JAKARTA - After going through many stages with quite a long wait, Indonesia finally has a list of esports athletes who will attend the 2021 SEA Games in Hanoi, Vietnam.

The 2021 SEA Games will be held again after being postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. There are a total of 40 sports to be competed in, with 11 Southeast Asian countries participating.

The countries are Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines, Cambodia, Myanmar, Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Laos, to Timor Leste.

The First Year of Indonesian Esports

This year is the second year that the SEA Games organizes competitions for Esports. It is also the first esports sport that Indonesia will participate in.

At the 2021 SEA Games, Indonesia will dispatch 38 esports athletes who will compete in six match numbers.

Gold Target

Some time ago the chairman of the PBESI Daily, Bambang Sunarwibowo in his written statement said that he was optimistic that Indonesia could win six gold medals.

Bambang's optimism is not without reason, it's because they know for sure after watching the matches, and trials with several countries, and the result is an increase in ability.

"We are optimistic that we can win six gold medals. We announced this target increase based on the analysis of the coaching team when we saw the progress of athletes in the second stage of the national training selection," said the Daily Chair of the Indonesian Esports Executive Board (PB ESI) Bambang Sunarwibowo in a written statement, Thursday.

IDR 7 Billion Prize

During the release of esports athletes to Hanoi, Vietnam, the chairman of PBESI Daily, Bambang Sunarwibowo also said that he would provide an additional pocket money of IDR 850 million in total.

Not only that, there is also a bonus prepared by the General Chairperson of PB Esports Indonesia with a total of IDR 7 billion for athletes who managed to bring home gold for Indonesia.
