JAKARTA - Phase I of Phase I of Analog TV broadcasting will begin on April 30, 2022 at 24.00, and will take place in three broadcast areas consisting of six regencies and two cities.

Minister of Communication and Information (Menkominfo) Johnny G. Plate explained that the area includes Riau Province for Dumai City, Bengkalis Regency and Meranti, Riau-4 broadcast area.

"For people who have televisions and cannot receive digital broadcasts, immediately install a Set-Top-Box (STB) device so that they can receive digital broadcasts. by the government and private broadcasters (LPS) and multiplexing operators," said Johnny at a press conference at the ASO Stage I Kick Off event, Friday, April 29.

In the implementation of ASO, there are nine Multiplexing Operators, namely the government and LPP TVRI, while seven LPS Groups consist of MNC Group, Media Group, SCM Group, Viva Group, Trans Media Group, RTV Group and Nusantara TV.

In addition, Johnny said that currently the multiplexing infrastructure in 56 broadcast areas consisting of 166 regencies and cities has been completed and is ready to be used.

"Then, the permanent termination of Phase II and Phase III analog broadcasts still needs to build 32 multiplexing infrastructure," said Johnny.

The Ministry of Communication and Informatics and LPS also provide assistance and information for people who need technical guidance on preparing television sets to receive digital broadcasts.

"Full digital television broadcasting will provide many benefits for terrestrial television viewers, because by switching to digital television, there will be more choices of television channels," said Johnny.

Johnny said, with digitization, broadcasting companies have the opportunity to produce more varied content.

"So that people can get more types of broadcasts and choices, terrestrial broadcasts are free-to-air broadcasts free of charge," Johnny explained.

"With digital broadcasts at no charge, people will get more variety and more broadcasts with better quality, clearer, cleaner and more sophisticated," he concluded.
