JAKARTA - Sony plans to launch the revamped PlayStation Plus service in America on June 13. Sony is targeting the first launch date in Asian markets (except Japan) to be May 23.

The launch was followed by a Japanese launch on June 1, an American launch on June 13, and a European launch on June 22.

The PlayStation Plus service will offer hundreds of games, for a fixed monthly fee when launched. This latest Sony service is a combination of PlayStation Plus with PlayStation Now.

Sony first announced the new tiers in March, with premium options offering perks such as access to a collection of games for download or streaming and the ability to play classic PlayStation, PS2, PS3, and PSP games.

But sadly, if you want to play retro games, you have to pay for the most expensive tier. At the time of the initial announcement, Sony had said that the tier would be available first in the June term in Asia, and would be followed by North America, Europe and the rest of the world next.

Here's a description of the PlayStation Plus tier since it was first announced:

1. PlayStation Plus Essential (USD 9.99 or IDR 138 thousand per month and $59.99 or USD 838 thousand per year)

2. PlayStation Plus Extra (14.99 US dollars per month or Rp. 208 thousand and 99.99 US dollars or Rp. 1.3 million per year)

3. PlayStation Plus Premium (17.99 US dollars or Rp. 250 thousand per month and 119.99 US dollars or Rp. 1.6 million per year)

When the new tier launches, PlayStation Now, which offers PS4, PS3, and PS2 collections that you can install or stream on PS5, PS4, or PC, "will no longer be available as a standalone service," Sony said.
