JAKARTA - The number of searches for eco-friendly or environmentally friendly products on Tokopedia has increased 2.5 times during the pandemic in 2021 when compared to before the pandemic. This was revealed by Tokopedia's Senior Lead Public Affairs, Aditia Grasio Nelwan.

Welcoming World Water Day on March 22 and Earth Hour on March 26, 2022, Tokopedia also invites more people to try the following five simple ways to promote a sustainable life.

1. Choose Water-Efficient Plants - Urban farming or gardening in a limited space has become a popular hobby during the pandemic. "Seeds or plant seeds, fertilizers and pots are some of the best-selling plant products and equipment in the Household category at Tokopedia in 2021," he said.

Choose a type of plant that is more water efficient and suitable for use as a sweetener for room decoration, such as succulent plants including jade or cactus vine.

2. Use Used Water to Water Plants - Washing rice, fruit or vegetables under running water can unknowingly use up more water than expected. Make it a habit to collect the water that has been used and pour it on the plants.

3. Collect Rainwater - Collecting rainwater in a tub or bucket can be an alternative for watering plants or washing vehicles. Don't forget to close when the rain stops to prevent mosquitoes from laying eggs.

4. Turn Off or Unplug Unused Electronic Devices - According to the environmental organization WWF, turning off lights and electronic equipment for one hour can actually reduce hundreds of tons of carbon dioxide emissions in the atmosphere.
