JAKARTA - Soon Earth, Moon and Mars will be connected to each other thanks to the broadband provided by Aquarian Space. This startup has also just received a disbursement of around US$ 650,000 or equivalent to Rp. 9.3 billion.

The funding comes from Draper Associates, which is devoted to development and technical review to connect Earth, Moon and Mars with broadband.

Aquarian Space itself has the ultimate goal of bringing high-speed internet between Earth, Moon, and Mars in the coming years. In fact, that internet capacity is fast enough to stream 4K video.

The company aims to deploy its first communications system on the Moon by 2024, and creates and launches what it calls Solnet, built on high-speed commercial data, a network of satellites transmitting at speeds of 100 megabits per second.

If you describe it, that's much faster than the average internet speed that the United States (US) enjoys. US residents used to surf less than 30 MB per second.

"By 2021 there will be 13 landers, orbiters and rovers on and around the moon. By 2030, we will have about 200, creating a billion-dollar Moon economy. But this cannot happen without solid and reliable Earth-to-Moon communications, "said CEO of Aquarian Space, Kelly Larson as quoted from Space, Monday, March 21.

Currently, Aquarian Space is conducting technical reviews with several companies participating in NASA's Commercial Lunar Payload Services (CLPS) program, which targets missions to the Moon.

CLPS will later see several payloads, landers, and other scientific equipment descend on the Moon in the 2020s to support NASA's Artemis program, which aims to put humans on the Moon sometime this decade.

It is hoped that Aquarian will be able to provide end-to-end data and communication services in 2024 with various companies that interact with it.

In addition to high-speed internet, Aquarian will also incorporate space situation awareness to view space debris, track space weather and provide scientific information from the moon and from Mars.
