JAKARTA - Last year Twitter had teased a feature that would let users manage their audience with their tweets. This feature, let users tweet to a select few followers, and now Twitter seems to be testing the feature out.

The feature, dubbed Circle, is claimed to be similar to the Close Friends feature in Instagram Stories and Google Plus Circles' RIP.

Last week app researcher Nima Owji discovered Twitter was testing the Circle feature. TechCrunch journalists also get the same opportunity in testing.

According to his report, he found a pop-up message asking to create a Circle to share the tweet with only a subset of up to 150 people. This feature is said to be changeable at any time, and people who were previously in the Circle will not be notified if they have been removed from the list.

However, like a trial, this feature cannot function fully because the "Got It" button cannot work to direct users to the next page.

Speaking to Twitter about this, a company spokesperson indicated that it was possible that the TechCrunch journalist received the pop-up because a bug had occurred, so he was unable to create a Twitter Circle.

But this bug is proof that Twitter is hard at work on the feature, so unintentional bugs can pop up.

Circle isn't the only feature that can restrict tweets from being viewed. Previously, there were Communities and the option to limit replies to tweets.

The microblogging social network gives users more control over who sees their tweets and who can engage with their tweets. Users can even pay for their special content via Super Follows.

"Twitter is always looking for new ways to help people engage in healthy conversation, and we're currently exploring ways to get people to Tweet into smaller groups," Twitter said to TechCrunch, Thursday, March 17.

"We previewed this concept last year because public feedback helped shape what we built. We don't have any further details to share but more will be coming soon."
