JAKARTA - Kadokawa Corporation has stated that it will release the game Overlord: Escape from Nazarick for PC via Steam and Nintendo Switch in Summer 2022. This announcement was made through the Twitter account newly created by Kadokawa Corporation.

Additionally, the company also released a video footage of the new game featuring a boss battle against the Guardian of the Tomb of Nazarick, Albedo.

Overlord: Escape from Nazarick is a spin-off video game adaptation of the Overlord series. The series originally started as a novel in 2010, and was later adapted through anime and manga in 2015.

Escape from Nazarick will feature side-scrolling battle mechanics similar to other games in the "Metroidvania" genre. Players will control Clementine and fight through the Tomb of Nazarick to regain her memories and abilities.

This work-in-progress gameplay trailer only appeared during streaming on May 12, 2022. In the trailer, it features Clementine facing off against Albedo, the guardian of the Tomb of Nazarick and one of the main characters of the series. Just like in the anime, Albedo uses 3F's giant battle axe.

In light of the game's international release, the company opened an official Twitter account for fans in English. Similar to the Japanese Twitter account, the account will provide fans with updates or game-related trailers in English.

Escape from Nazarick is the latest in a series of video game adaptations for the Overlord franchise. Back in 2019, an RPG titled Overlord: Mass for the Dead was released in Japan for smartphones. Previously, Kadokawa also released a free Overlord game made in the MV RPG Maker.

Overlord: Escape from Nazarick will release for PC via Steam and Nintendo Switch in Summer 2022.
