Nintendo Switch Tops Most Console Sales In February

JAKARTA - Nintendo Switch topped the console sales of the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 in unit sales in February.

According to Mat Piscatella of NPD as reported by The Verge, Sunday, March 13, the PS5 took the top spot as the best-selling gaming device in the US last month.

The Switch and PS5 have swapped places as the number one console since the PS5 broke the nearly three-year record last October. However, the time at its peak was short-lived, as the new Switch OLED boosted console sales, bringing it back to the number one spot through November and December 2021.

So far in 2022, the Switch has sold the most units, while the PS5 has made the most money.

Of course, setting up an on-and-off switch has a lot to do with availability. A global chip shortage has made it hard for consumers to find PS5 and Xbox Series X without paying broker prices. Meanwhile, the now five-year-old Switch console has become a bit easier to find in stores and online despite Nintendo cutting production by 20 percent through March 2022. Whenever availability for Xbox Series X and PS5 increases, it will be interesting to see how sales go. Switches stack.

Meanwhile, the best-selling game is Elden Ring, which occupies the top position. What makes this win even more impressive is that Elden Ring only came out in February, and its sales still managed to outpace Horizon II: Forbidden West and the recently released Pokémon Legends: Arceus.
