JAKARTA - PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia Tbk plans to enter the virtual world or metaverse. This allows BRI to open branches in the metaverse and can be accessed by people everywhere. The development was carried out in collaboration with the WIR Group, a business group engaged in technology, especially augmented reality (AR).

BRI's Director of Consumer Business Handayani said that through the development of the Metaverse, the company would present a virtual branch.

The opening of the virtual branch will allow the public to access BRI bank anywhere. Furthermore, the woman also revealed that BRI always prioritizes customer experience while at the same time being able to reach the wider community.

"BRI always prioritizes customer experience in every service, BRI's presence in the metaverse world is expected to be a new, pleasant journey for customers," said Handayani in her statement, quoted from Kompas, Tuesday (8/2).

"At the same time, it can reach a wider community to carry out various digital transaction services as well as good customer service in the future, both virtually and on-site," added Handayani.

Handayani explained that BRI took the initiative to take part in the metaverse in Indonesia by joining the "Metaverse Indonesia" program which will be exhibited by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) at the G20 event, next October.

"BRI's step in Metaverse Indonesia also marks the company's achievement as a pioneer bank in Indonesia that is included in the metaverse world," said Handayani.

Handayani also said that the collaboration between BRI and WIR Group is a real commitment from the two companies to constantly adapt to digitalization developments in all lines of life, including banking services.

"In addition, the BRI initiative in Metaverse Indonesia can also boost the implementation of the G20 Indonesia theme," said the mother of one.
