JAKARTA - Google is increasingly integrated with Apple, it seems that Android users can finally interact more easily with emoji reactions sent by Apple's iMessage users.
Previously, Google Messages app users were unable to see emoji reactions from iMessage users. They instead get the text Loved or Liked followed by the original message. However, now that will change.
This update is reportedly only available for the beta version of Google Messages. The app will now show an emoji instead of the Like text, and the Google app converts reactions sent by iMessage users into the appropriate emoji on Android.
According to a Droid-Life report, as of now, the feature is still in the testing phase with a limited number of users, but has already started rolling out in beta for Google Messages.
For those who are curious to try it, you must be using Google Messages beta version, you can enable the new option by going to Settings click Advanced and select Show iPhone reactions as emoji.
Launching Digital Trends, Wednesday, February 2, again, reminding that this feature is still available in beta, so it's natural that the feature doesn't work perfectly, such as when displaying a "laughing" reaction from iMessage users, but what is displayed on Android users is instead a face emoji with tears of joy.
It's basically a translation trying to find the most suitable and appropriate emoji rather than an actual integration.
This new feature also only works one way. Android users cannot react to messages sent by Apple people using iMessage.
As Android Authority notes, Apple should either support the RCS standard or come up with its own solution to support react on iMessage from Google Messages. It's not clear when this feature will be available in the final version, but hopefully it won't be too long.
