Matheus Souza Determined To Bring PSMS Medan Promotion To Liga 1 Indonesia

The PSMS Medan attacking midfielder from Brazil, Matheus Souza, admitted that he is ready to make history with the team he defended in the 2023/2024 Indonesian League 2 season for promotion to the Indonesian League 1 next season.

"I watched the Indonesian League match, I can feel the atmosphere. I can't wait for League 2 to start. Together with this team I think we can make history, and we hope to move up to League 1," he said in Medan as reported by Antara, Saturday, September 9.

When asked about the target of scoring goals at PSMS Medan, Matheus Souza admitted that he was more concerned with the team's victory than the number of goals he could score. However, the man who claims to prefer to be called Souza hopes to become one of the PSMS Medan goals machines this season.

"I prefer to be called Souza, but Matheus is okay too, whatever. I hope to score a lot of goals. I at PSMS don't play alone, but in 18 matches, 20, 21 goals I think it's good," he said.

Matheus Souza came to PSMS Medan with a free transfer status after previously defending Thai League 2 club Suphanburi FC in the 2022/2023 season. A week of training with PSMS Medan, Souza said that currently his condition is quite good.

"Good, I think everyone is positive, they accept me very well. They say calm and practice, I've started training, and my physical condition is good, stage by stage it improves," he said.

Souza and his fellow foreign players at PSMS Medan, South Korean midfielder Kim Jin-Sung, are indeed the most recent recruits of PSMS Medan this season.

Together with Ridho Syuhada and Dwiki Arya, following joining PSMS Medan, the four of them are expected to adapt to the PSMS style of the concoction of Ridwan Saragih cs.
