GARUT - Fauzan, a nine-year-old boy who was carried away by the current of the Cimalaka River in Wanaraja District, Garut Regency, West Java, was found by a joint SAR team on Thursday 7 March.

Head of the Bandung Search and Rescue Office, Deden Ridwansyah, revealed that Fauzan was found not far from where he was lost in the Cimalaka River. The boy was swept away by the current of the river while playing with his friends.

"The joint SAR team found the victim dead," said Deden, Thursday, March 7.

He said the victim was reportedly playing with a friend and then fell into a water channel and was carried by the current into the Cimalaka River in Tajursela Village, Sukamenak Village, Wanaraja District.

Based on the report, the SAR team along with other elements conducted a search by tracing the river until finally several kilometers the victim was found dead. "The victim was evacuated and taken to a funeral home," he said, as reported by Antara.

The joint team involved in the search, namely the Bandung Basarnas, TNI, Polri, BPBD, Disdamkar, Scouts, Tagana, the community, and other volunteers.

After the victim was found, the entire joint team involved stopped the operation and returned to their respective institutions. "With the discovery of the victim, the SAR operation is closed, the SAR elements return to their respective units," he said.
