Repair Of 2 Trans Sumatra Toll Roads Accelerated, Target Completed Before Use For Eid Homecoming 2022

JAKARTA - PT Waskita Karya (Persero) is speeding up the repair of the two toll road projects that are part of the Trans Sumatra Toll Road. The plan is for the Terbanggi Besar-Pematang Panggang-Kayu Agung toll road and the Kayu Agung-Palembang-Betung (KAPB) toll road to be completed before Idul Fitri or Idul Fitri 2022.

Director of Operation II Waskita Bambang Rianto said the project team focused on the damaged toll road sections. He hopes that the direction of the Minister of PUPR Basuki Hadimuljono regarding the repair of the toll road can be realized immediately.

"The project team will focus on repairing damaged toll roads so that the Toll Road Minimum Service Standards (SPM) can be met in order to ensure the safety and comfort of toll road users and to support community mobilization during the Lebaran homecoming," said Bambang in a written statement, quoted by Antara. Waskita is targeting the completion of repairs to the 189-kilometer Terbanggi Besar-Pematang Panggang-Kayu Agung (TBPPKA) toll road segment to be completed before the 2022 Eid al-Fitr homecoming. Later, the toll road will have zero potholes.

It is planned that all permanent repair works that are rigid pavement to flexible pavement will be completed in April 2022.

The toll road, which is part of the Trans Sumatra Toll Road (JTTS), is an important segment in supporting the effectiveness and efficiency of community mobility in Sumatra, especially ahead of Lebaran.

In addition, the 42.5-kilometer phase 1 Kayu Agung-Palembang-Betung Toll Road will also be thoroughly repaired, including potholes. The Kayu Agung-Palembang-Betung toll road section is managed by a subsidiary of Waskita Toll Road, namely PT Waskita Sriwijaya Tol (WST).

“Our target is to close all holes, no matter how small, identified on the Kapal Betung toll road. If a new hole is found, it will be immediately covered with coldmix baro-baro asphalt from South Korea in less than 1x24 hours. The target time exceeds the minimum service standard for toll road maintenance, which is 2x24 hours," he concluded.
